Sara Codarin

MArch, PhD, Assoc. AIA

Hi, I'm Sara!

I'm an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Lawrence Technological University's Department of Architecture, where I am responsible for the technology sequence within the undergraduate curriculum. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Ferrara, leveraging robotics for the preservation of cultural heritage.

My research interests span large-scale additive manufacturing, robotic fabrication, digital craft, storytelling, and generative AI for world-building.

I am the recipient of the 2022 Crain’s Detroit Notable Women in Design and Construction Award and exhibited my recent work at the Ford House in Detroit. As a member of the Detroit Month of Design community, I promote the advancement of the technological culture in the metro area. In 2024, I was appointed testimonial for the Italian Design Day by the Consulate of Italy in Detroit.

I enjoy exploring workflows and tools across digital and physical spaces. I am a techno-optimist, and I love robots.
