Sara Codarin, Ph.D.
I’m an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Lawrence Technological University’s College of Architecture and Design. I earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Ferrara, where my work developed at the intersection of technology and humanism.
My research spans large-scale additive manufacturing, robotic fabrication, digital craft, storytelling, and generative AI for world-building.
I’m the author of Robotics for Architectural Restoration (Routledge, 2026) and Architecture of Domesticity (Anteferma, 2026).
In 2022, I received Crain’s Detroit Notable Women in Design and Construction Award, and in 2024, I was named Italian Design Day Ambassador by the Consulate of Italy in Detroit.
My recent work has been exhibited at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale IntelliGENS, as well as at Pratt Institute, Milan Design Week, Tyler School of Architecture, University of Colorado Art Museum, and the Detroit Month of Design.
I enjoy exploring workflows and tools across digital and physical spaces. I am a techno-optimist, and I love robots.
